I cannot post what I have been doing for the last weeks, as it is a quilt for my first grand-daughter who will be born in February. I made the commitment that she will be the first to see it. (Well, my husband doesn´t count, as he cannot walk around without seeing it.) So I just want to say that I finished it and like it. Pictures will be posted after the baby gives her approval. I cannot wait.
However, I also made a changing pad for her, and that is already in Spain, as part of the changing table that her uncle made for her. Here is a partial picture of the pad.
I love those fabrics. I made the inner pad with four layers of headliner covered by cotton batting and all of it in a case made with baby dry fabric, so it can be wiped out. Then, I made the pad case with the squares that are shown in the picture in the front and a solid vanilla cotton and some leftover squares in the back, and a zipper in one of the ends, so the case can be washed. There is a lot to talk about in these squares! I hope she will want me to tell her all the stories.
Me encantan esas telas.

Cheryl works at AAA Travel Agency, she is Boni's co-worker and wanted me to make a purse for her. So here it is. The second picture is the lining.

Dylan
As winter approaches, we wanted to provide Dylan some shelter. This box was just the first try, although I thought it was too small and he would not want to get into it. The picture proves me wrong. The cat was calmly resting in the box, but when he saw me with the camera, his curiosity did not allow him to stay.
Dylan, now, has his winter fur.

Boni is my travel agent. She always finds the best deals for my trips to Spain. A few days ago, when I went to buy my tickets, she saw my bag and liked it very much, so she commissioned one for her. Here is the result.

Spreading the word - Corriendo la voz
Today, I got notice that there is a giveaway at Lily's Quilts, and of course I want to participate. It is not that I don't have any thread, but I never tried Aurifil, and this would be a good opportunity. Also, more thread can never hurt, right? Now, if you don't want to participate, that is fine, more chances to me!

Broken Promises - Promesas rotas
I know, I know, not that long ago (just a couple of days, maybe), I had made the commitment not to buy any more fabric until I use all my scraps. But, as we say in Spain, flesh is weak.
There was a sign in this house on the way to Spearfish, they were selling everything as they were moving. Just for the sake of it, with no money in our pockets, we went to look at it. Curiosity. And there they were, these two pieces, calling me. The one with blue stripes is like a place mat in canvas and has some beads on the ends. The green floral is a linen table running. Of course, I did not buy them for their use, but for the fabric. 25 cents each, who could have left them there?

Digging In - Excavando
Although I have posted a couple of things I made recently, it has been quite a not so productive time in my sewing world. Why? Well, there is another world outside of this one, a world of work to make a living, so I can keep purchasing fabric for my own use, and also to maintain my Etsy shop, which still did not make me a millionaire (by the way, I encourage you to visit it and, maybe, find something you cannot go without, he, he).
Anyway, I want to inform you that I am still working on my hand quilting project. I haven't worked a lot on that lately, but I am back on track now. It will take me a long time to get to the end of it, but there is no doubt I will get there.
With a little more time on my hands, I was able to check some fellow bloggers' posts and pay some attention to things that interest me. Right yesterday, I happened to find this blog and, as a result, started to make one 8" block with scraps. I had fun. I just got the scraps out of the box, no picking, just the way they came out, and made my block. While I was doing this, I realized my scraps were chaotically spread in several boxes and I did not even know what I had.
Soooo... today I got my boxes, went out to the deck to enjoy the nice weather we still have before the winter arrives, and dug in my scraps to my elbows. I found pieces of fabric that I did not remember at all! And I made a commitment: I will not buy any more fabric until I use all my scraps up. How about that?
Me divertí.
